About US

Members 1st of NJ FCU is a federally chartered credit union. The credit union was founded in 1938 as the Cumberland County Teachers Federal Credit Union to serve employees of the Cumberland County School Districts. We have come a long way since then by adding the City of Vineland employees and over 45 company groups. Because the credit union served different groups as well as the school districts, the credit union name was changed to CUMCO Federal Credit Union in the 1980s. In 2009, Salem County School Employee’s FCU merged into CUMCO FCU. Salem County SEFCU served employees of the Salem County Boards of Education as well as several private schools. The credit union name was then changed to Members 1st of NJ FCU to better reflect the entire membership of the credit union.

Members 1st of NJ FCU is democratically controlled and provided members with a safe place to save and borrow at reasonable rates. As a financial cooperative, members pool their funds to make loans for one another. The volunteer board governs the credit union and is elected by members.

Not for profit, not for charity, but for service is the credit union motto.
